Female Accounting Professional - Intership

We are looking for an aspiring FEMALE ACCOUNTING PROFESSIONAL for an internship at Njiro, Arusha Office.

The Accounting Intern will be responsible for some general accounting and expense control duties. They will assist company Accountants with general accounting functions including
maintaining the general ledger, performing accounts receivable tasks and revenue reconciliations.

Responsibilities:
 Match invoices to checks, credit card bills, and cash receivable accordingly
 Reconcile customer statements, research and correct discrepancies
Bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, review all invoices for appropriate
documentation and approval prior to payment
 Assist in maintaining and closing the company’s general ledger, including preparation of
journal entries, review of the general ledger, investigation of errors and anomalies, and
preparation of account reconciliations and analysis.
 Facilitate evaluation of internal controls and financial reporting
 Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with
company policy and accepted accounting practices
 Assist in month end closing
 Assist with other projects as needed


Qualifications:
 MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ARUSHA.
 Working towards a diploma or degree in Finance or Accounting
 Ability to use MS Office with Proficiency in MS Excel.
 Ability to communicate, and work with everybody in the team.
 Experience with some Accounting software is desired.
 This role will grow into a full time position in 3-6 months so individuals in their final year

We are seeking a new Graphic Designer to join our team. You will be designing a wide variety of things across digital and offline media. To be successful in this position, you’ll be a self-starter, capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas, and show amazing attention to detail.

Graphic Designer Responsibilities:

  • Planning concepts by studying relevant information and materials.
  • Illustrating concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style and submitting them for approval.
  • Preparing finished art by operating necessary equipment and software.
  • Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.

Background
Restless Development:
Restless Development Tanzania (www.restlessdevelopment.org) is the leading youth-led development agency. Our mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development. We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have established an impressive track record in delivering grassroots impact through youth led development programmes aligned to the Government of Tanzania’s poverty reduction plans and Millennium Development Goals now Sustainable Development Goals. Our area of focus is in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Livelihoods & Employment, Civic Participation and global issues such as climate change and emergency response.
ICS:

We are looking for a talented and passionate young people to volunteer in International Citizen Service (ICS) project. ICS is the leading global volunteering programme for young people who want to do voluntary development work in some of the under-served communities around the world. ICS brings together young people from different countries to fight poverty. Young volunteers from the Tanzania thus will be working alongside volunteers from UK. This role will contribute to growing the impact, effectiveness and credibility of delivering pre professional skills development to students at Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL), vocational training institutions and Secondary Schools while at the same time creating a global network between young people from Tanzania with their counterparts from the UK. You will be responsible in delivery of the project, be engaged and focused throughout the cycle of the project.

You will be a dynamic and a passionate individual, who is able to work in a cross cultural setting, is practical, solution-focussed and committed to delivering high standard programmes. 

Role Purpose
The dual objective of being an ICS volunteer with Restless Development is to actively contribute to the delivery of an ICS project, while also focussing on your own personal and professional development.

Core Responsibilities
Pre-placement Preparation:

  1. Attend pre placement training
  2. Carefully read the Volunteer Handbook and carry out all necessary tasks listed
  3. Initial research into Country Programme to further prepare for placement phase
  4. Commit to Restless Development code of conduct for the duration of the placement
Programme Planning and Facilitation:

  1. Along with team leaders and other general volunteers, participate in the preparation of team plans to be filled in team planning tool
  2. Actively participate in weekly and monthly plans for team activities
  3. Prepare session plans to be delivered in the Higher Learning Institutions
  4. Ensuring positive communication and partnership with Higher Learning Institutions
  5. Participate in preparation and running the careers fair event


Monitoring and Evaluation:

  1. Document your activities using the tools provided
  2. Full participation in preparing team planning tool
  3. Collate evidence of impact from young people in communities
  4. Input into the write up of a team debrief, with input from other volunteer team including identifying gaps, lessons learnt and recommendations

Action at Home:

  1. Attend a debrief and planning for Action at Home
  2. Complete Action at Home, no later than 6 months after placement
  3. Complete the Action at Home evaluation form and return to Restless Development staff


Personal Specification

  • Must be between 18 and 25 years old
  • A passion for the role of young people in international development
  • A belief in the values of Restless Development
  • A full commitment to the three stages of ICS (pre-placement preparation, placement and Action at Home)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work flexibly and on own initiative
  • Sensitive to the needs of others and committed to learning from an ICS placement

Essential Skills & Experience

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  2. Ability to plan logically, managing a varied workload and working environment
  3. Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili

Desirable Skills & Experience

  1. A basic understanding of development issues, e.g. poverty, advocacy, sexual health

Assistant Communication Officer (intern)

Job Vacancy: Assistant Communication Officer (intern--tenable in February 2016)


KEY RESULT AREAS: 

  • Coordinating Soma storytellers (physical) Hub, activities and events (incl. PR and media liaison, literary events organizing, promoting and scheduling , establishing and maintain updated databases of key resource people, partners and audiences, maintain a cutting edge reference resource corner and group process facilities at the Hub);
  • Day-to-day maintenance of E-platforms and media presence (incl. regular updating of Soma Webpage and other e-forums and platforms; writing, soliciting and uploading/posting news stories, events schedules, customers info packs, reports, dialogues and resource inputs on the web facebook, twitter, Whats-Up, Instagram etc. with links to relevant social media platforms,and monitoring and reporting on usage data and statistics).
  • Assist in marketing and pushing Soma Brands (incl. originating PR/advert material content + coordinating design, printing and dissemination; assist in developing and running PR campaigns and drafting press releases for events/activities; collecting, documenting and sharing for appraisal audiences/participants’ feedback /opinions and change stories).

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • College education (minimum Diploma) in Mass Communication or PR and Marketing or related field with knowledge and skills on how to navigate the cyberspace/social media savvy.
  • Proficient in Kiswahili and English.
  • A good communicator (ability to tell stories in different hues and media: text, images and sound); avid reader and skilled writer with good taste and humor.
  • A team player, persuasive, result oriented, able to work under pressure
  • A good listener, open minded and innovative and with integrity.

Pamoja Twajenga, the USAID-funded Capacity Development for Partners of Accountability Program, is currently seeking interns. Pamoja Twajenga works hand-in-hand with selected civil society organizations (CSOs) and Government of Tanzania (GOT) Institutions of Accountability (IOAs) to support the implementation of their USAID-funded programs in Mtwara, Iringa, Dodoma, Morogoro, and Zanzibar.

Selected interns can expect to work toward the following objectives:
