Duma Works is recruiting a Chief Accountant for our client; a leading tour company in Arusha, Tanzania.
Job purpose summary
Control the full Accounting Function complying with the Group Companies rules and policies and meet all reporting deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Will be responsible for the day-to-day operational activities in accounting department related to Management Accounting. Which will include the following:
- a real time General Ledger system with a linked perpetual stock system
- a real time reporting system providing cash, stock and profitability reports
- an effective Internal Control system within Syspro System to ensure data integrity and stock accountability.
- prepare Management Accounts to IFRS standard and Tanzania Law
- a one year detail budget (month wise) based on the Zero Rated and Standard Costing methods (including a unit cost model showing income/costs per bednight/safari)
- Control over the Management Accounting System and building of In House Capacity
- Manage the Internal Control System
- Maintain reports to all stakeholders
- Manage the Tourism business model being a dual Variable & Absorption costing system
- Control & reporting of the Bank & Cash Function and input for cashflow forecasting
- Perform ad hoc services as required
- Perform all duties of Financial Accountant/Financial Controller in their absence.
Requirements
- CPA certified
- Degree or higher in accounting or business related discipline
- Available to work full time in Tanzania
- 3+ years’ work experience in accounting
