Section Leader – Maintenance Planning at Acacia Mining

SECTION LEADER – MAINTENANCE PLANNING

Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Section Leader – Maintenance Planning based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Asset Reliability Manager and the role holder will be accountable to provide technical support and governance within the Asset Reliability Department and North Mara for Maintenance Planning. The role will be the catalyst for compliance to systems, processes and standards relating to Asset Management, CMMS system and Work Management protocols. The role will specifically ensure Acacia Maintenance Planning systems and processes are embedded in the operation and form the way we do business.

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety:

  • Visibly support and drive Acacia Safety Policies and Standards,
  • Visibly integrate safe work practices into Planning activities,
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory health, safety and environmental policies and procedures,
  • Ensure that safety standards, FLRA, and Safe Working Procedures are adhered to in full to ensure Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate, and
  • Ensure Zero Fatality and Zero Medical Treatment Injury (MTI) in the Section.

Leadership effectiveness:

  • Ensure Acacia Work Management Protocols are utilized to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
  • Effective leadership for the Maintenance Planning Section.
  • Effective Maintenance Planning Strategy and ensure the Strategy is implemented.
  • Risk Management System.
  • Operational Strategies & Systems.
  • Ensure clear objectives are set, agreed and adhered to by Team Members.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and reviews of Team Members.
  • Ensure that Team Members have Development Plans and that they achieve the milestones on the plan, and
  • Ensure less experienced Team Members are trained effectively.

Provide General Support/ Governance:

  • Ensure all statutory/regulatory maintenance activities are managed within CMMS (Pronto) system,
  • Ensure Acacia Work Management Protocols are adhered to and reports are published weekly and monthly,
  • Prepare Quarterly forum work management presentation reviewing Acacia business, and
  • Ensure facilitation of maintenance planning meeting structure as per the Acacia Work Management Procedure/ Work Management.
  • Maintenance Planning Improvement Strategy:
  • Improve the Work Management process implementation on Site,
  • Ensure Work Management reporting system is established as per central model,
  • Improve high level shutdown planning process – synergies with OEMs and resources, and
  • Ensure Rotables are managed as per the Acacia Rotable Management process.

Projects:
Support and implement the Acacia Maintenance Optimization Project – (AMOP),
Implementation of Rylson8 as CMMS strategy management, and
Implement the Acacia Work Management roll out strategy.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Asset Management
  • Knowledge in:
  • Asset Management – including reliability, asset integrity, spare part management
  • Maintenance Management,
  • Mining and Minerals Processing,
  • Project Management and Scheduling,
  • Risk Management, and
  • Change Management.


Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience in the Mining Industry/ Operational/ Support Roles,
  • 10 years’ experience in Maintenance Planning Roles, and
  • 5 years’ experience in Senior Leadership Role.

Chief Grievance Officer - Acacia Mining

Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Chief Grievance Officer based at North Mara Gold Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.

North Mara Gold Mine operates a Grievance Mechanism (“GM”) as part of its community relations programme.  The GM is a way through which members of the community may express grievances to the Mine and seek remedies.  Grievances may be brought to the GM on any issue, including potential impacts on human rights, the environment, rights to land and other property, and human and animal health and safety.

The Grievance Team serves as secretariat to the GM, administers the GM and engages with grievants. The Grievance Team will be led by the Chief Grievance Officer.

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off. The role’s function and authority is set out in the GM Standard Operating Procedure document (which will be forwarded to candidates).


CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

·        Ensure that the GM operates in accordance with the terms of its Standard Operating Procedures;
·        To lead the Grievance Team and to direct, plan and coordinate the secretarial, operations and administrative work of the GM;
·        Train and supervise the members of the Grievance Team and the Community Capacity Building Team in the performance of their duties and in their community engagement;
·        Present written reports on the activities of the GM, prepare the budget of the GM and update all information sheets and guidance documents; and
·        Publicise the GM and ensure intended users know about it and how to use it.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:                                                                     

·        A university degree in Law with a focus on human rights (environmental law will also be considered)

Experience Requirements:

·        A minimum of five years’ experience in human rights law (environmental law will also be considered);
·        Prior experience coordinating a grievance or complaints mechanism and/or working in court administration or other judicial role; and
·        Proven track record in community engagement, mediation and/or conflict resolution;

Skills / Knowledge Requirements:

·        Ability to work well with local and national government officials and international stakeholders and observers;
·        Prior experience supervising, training and monitoring teams;
·        Proven ability to work effectively with particularly vulnerable individuals;
·        Strong management, record keeping and IT skills;
·        Fluent Swahili and excellent written English;
·        Self-motivated and high-performing individual with good people skills; and
·        Ability to manage and process large amounts of information.

Underground Production Engineer



Acacia Mining seeks to employ an Underground Production Engineer based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Underground Mining Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable for underground mine design, medium term planning and production Drill & Blast. 

This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off. 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 
• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies of Acacia, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines. 
• Development of mine design and layouts, ensuring compliance to the layout implementation. 
• Monitor compliance to the daily tracking and weekly plan. 
• Production Drill & Blast 
o Ensure compliance to the required stope notes for all stopes. 
o Completion of drill design for all production drill activities 
o Preparation of blast design for all production blast activities 
o Reconciliation of drill and blast performance, ensuring compliance to all stope reconcilliation 
o Maintain compliance to logging and firing of IKON electronic blasts 
• Maintain Ventilation, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF), Drill & Blast (D&B), and Long-Hole Open Stoping (LHOS) engineering systems. 
• Assist with the underground optimisation projects as required. 
• Prepare regular production reports and stope file notes for the underground operation. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS 
Qualification Requirements: 
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering 

Experience Requirements: 
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an underground mining operation 
• At least 1 years’ experience as production drill and blast engineer 
• Experience in the Gold Mining Industry is preferred

Ventilation Engineer



Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Ventilation Engineer based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Underground Production Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to ensure the mine has required ventilation to sustain operations safely and efficiently; allowing the expansion of underground workings supported by a ventilation plan.


This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Development of robust and accurate ventilation layouts, ensuring compliance to the layout implementation.
• Ensure refuge bay compliance.
• Develop a ventilation control system whereby there is compliance to required flow and temperatures in the working areas.
• Ensure that primary fans air flow is delivered to underground via the primary ventilation tunnels.
• Ensure that secondary fan flow is delivered to the correct working headings underground.
• Conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys including airflow measurements, gas and dust tests
• Maintain a fan registry and responsibility for fan issues, new orders and replacement.
• Incorporate ventilation design into the short and medium term mining plans.
• All required reports are delivered on time, accurately and with appropriate content.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering

Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an underground environment
• At least 1 years’ experience as statutory Ventilation Officer/Technician
• Experience in the Gold Mining Industry is preferred

Light Vehicle Mechanics

Acacia Mining seeks to appoint a dedicated, self motivated and highly organized Light Vehicle Mechanics for its Buzwagi Gold Mine. Below are the details for the openings

Reporting Line: Light Vehicle First Line Leader
Rotational Status: 6 days on  - 1 day off
Location: Buzwagi Gold Mine; Kahama District - Shinyanga Region


KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Listen to engines, fit and operate special test equipment, and test drive vehicles
  • Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear; dismantling them and checking parts, referring to manuals as necessary
  • Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, using various instruments to make sure they are working properly and putting them back into the vehicle
  • Tune engines using special electronic equipment and make fine adjustments for smoother running
  • Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
  • Diagnose, Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition and electronic fuel injection
  • To diagnose faults and do necessary repairs safely and properly.
  • To control and log service intervals properly
  • To properly control and record all findings and spares used on job cards
  • To interact with drivers as to vehicle's mechanical condition and road worthiness
  • To give constant feedback regarding condition, services and repairs to LV First Line Leader
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy working environment
  • Report to LV First Line Leader any irregularities that may be found during execution of your duties
  • Comply with all Acacia policies and procedures at all times


Education
Motor Vehicle Mechanics qualifications from a recognised institution.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a vehicle mechanic
  • Experienced in the servicing and repairs of all light vehicles, competent in carrying out preventative maintenance and also be competent in the repairs of gearboxes, differentials, engines, brake systems and suspensions
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license
  • Clear and effective communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Must be willing to contribute towards building a safe and healthy working environment

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Operate the Process Plant in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production targets
  • Operate, the Process Plant to achieve metallurgical key performance indicators
  • Operate mobile equipment associated with the Process Plant
  • Report all maintenance requirements and operating problems to the Shift Supervisor
  • Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills and develop full potential
  • Be proactive in all aspects of Process Plant security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with Stakeholders Engagement and Communication Section leader in development and implementation of communication strategy for employees and stakeholders outlining goals, key audience, objectives, recommended media, timelines, expected results and metric for success in order to maintain the interest and engagement of both parties
  • Provide support in Developing community relations and public relations communication plan that comprehensively covers all major national and community relations activities in the calendar year.
  • Support proper planning and execution of stakeholders engagement calendar
  • Take part in Identifying and mitigating inhibitors to employees and stakeholders engagement and ensure continuous development and improvement
  • Manage all elements of visual communication around the site including maintenance of notice-boards and the screen
  • Work closely with community relations department to explore the most appropriate method to cascade Buzwagi community development projects to ensure the site. is able to effectively communicate the value of its contribution to development in its host communities
  • Produce Publications, including an internal and external newsletter, for the intranet, and other Acacia publications
  • Provide Support in any other communication and stakeholders engagement initiatives and events as required
  • Undertake other related tasks as directed by Stakeholders engagement and communication Section Leader


Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Mass communication; Journalism; Public Relations or related discipline from an accredited Institution.

Experience

  • 3-5 Years experience in communication or journalism.
  • Trade test grade one in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines from an accredited Institution
  • Experience working in multicultural environment is desirable
  • Experience in dealing with, the media and knowledge of local media landscape
  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential, as well as a critical eye for editing and grammar
  • Experience in managing websites and using social media tools in a professional context
  • Photography, graphic design and short video production skills preferred
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in a timely manner
