Partnership Officer

Job Title: Partnership Officer

Reports to: Partnership Manager

Location: Mbeya HQ but with frequent travel to other regions within the Southern Highlands

General Overview of Position:
The purpose of this position is to contribute to the design and delivery of partnership and institutional development interventions that support improvement in implementing partners’ operational performance and collaboration capabilities.

Scope of Duties:
Coordinate Partnership and Program Delivery Initiatives
i. Follow-up implementation of various ongoing partnership interventions based on the annual plan developed.
ii. Supports the monitoring and administration of relationship management and program delivery related activities.
iii. Assist with ongoing partner capacity assessment exercise and contribute to the drafting of the capacity building plan at district and regional levels.
iv. Work in liaison with district and regional client teams to identify areas of growth within existing or potential collaborations at district and regional levels.
v. With guidance from Partnership Manager provide guidance and coaching to (IPs) regarding institutional gaps identified and collaborations at district or regional level.
vi. Provide planning and logistical support for partnership events, activities, forums and site-visits.
vii. Participate and provide input during the development or modification of partnership materials, assessments and tools.
viii. Support periodic partnership data collection, collation and analysis activities.
ix. Maintain a database of information and records relating to implementing partners’ (IPs), government agencies and donors’ profile, geographic reach, capacity, initiatives and such other details as are relevant to the development and maintenance of client partnerships.


Support Communication, Learning and Linkages
i. Participate in IPs and key stakeholder networking meetings at the District and Regional levels as appropriate.
ii. Maintain the day-to-day communication with regional teams and stay in regular contact with partners’ field teams.
iii. Support the collection and documentation of partnership success stories, lessons learned, partnership events and promising practices at district and regional levels as appropriate.
iv. Identifying promising practices and incorporating new ideas for partnership building
v. Prepare and submit bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
vi. Perform other related assignments as assigned by the supervisor to support client partnership initiatives or activities within the Southern Highlands.

Qualification, Knowledge and Expertise:
Bachelors’ Degree in Development studies, Community development, Organizational Development or Public Health or any other social science related field. Post Graduate or TOT level training in NGO management or Institutional Development will be an added advantage.
Preferably a minimum of 2 years working experience with NGOs ,FBOs and Government sector (directly facilitating partnerships at a field level) with a strong understanding of the local context.
Experience working with local, regional and central-level government authorities and with USG or other development partners in the health and HIV/AIDs sector.
Self- motivated individual with ability to meet deadlines, ability to coordinate multiple tasks, a keen attention to detail.
Strong presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to elaborate partnership projects.
Sense of initiative, discretion, mature judgment, and entrepreneurial spirit is required. Capacity to effectively interact with a multiplicity of stakeholders including senior leaders.
Experience in designing and facilitating stakeholder or partnership learning events.
Knowledge of participatory approaches, tools, and techniques.
Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
Strong computer skills (MS Office -Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of database and internet.
80% travel required.
