Position: Accountant III (Domestic Payments and Settlement) - Two Posts

The Bank of Tanzania, an equal opportunity employer and Tanzania’s central bank, is looking for suitably qualified young Tanzanian citizens of high personal integrity to fill the following vacant positions at the Head Office and at its Branches in Mwanza, Mbeya, Arusha, Zanzibar and Training Institute, Mwanza.
Reports to: Head of Division
Contract type: Contract for unspecified period of time
Job Purpose:
To execute accounting duties relating to domestic payments and settlement, reconciliation, accounting entries and examination of payments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing, examining and analyzing periodic statements of financial position and statement of comprehensive income to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting standards;
- Monitoring and reviewing accounting entries and related system reports for accuracy and completeness;
- Resolving accounting entries discrepancies;
- Reviewing and recommending International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) which are relevant to the Bank;
- Reconciling internal and intermediary accounts;
- Maintaining accounting records and preparing accounts and management information;
- Providing advice and support to internal and external auditors in completing audits;
- Examining and verifying payments;
- Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of Division.
Education/Professional Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor‘s Degree in Accounting or its equivalent from an accredited institution;
- Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
