Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) is Tanzania’s sole standards body, formerly
established by the Standards Act No. 3 of 1975, which was repealed and replaced by the Standards Act No. 2 of 2009. It is a Parastatal Organization under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Bureau is looking for suitably, qualified, competent and committed Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Head of Section
• Studies all aspects pertaining to inspection, quality management and
  certification
• Studies and implements the laboratory safety procedures and regulations
• Carries out analysis of sample as may be assigned by supervisor/trainer
• My be appointed to conduct quality assurance inspections
• Assists industries in all matters related to quality assurance
• Participates in preparation, Implementation, maintenance and review of
  quality system.
• Carries out verification of suppliers and services
• Carries out corrective and preventive actions
• Assist in safety and serviceability of equipment and apparatus.
• Assist in the preparation, publication and dissemination of information
• Any other duties as may be assigned by Head of Section.

REMUNERATION
All above vacancies carry an attractive remuneration package in accordance with the qualifications and experience stated in the specific vacant post.

Position: Quality Assurance & Control Officer I - 1 Post

Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop, harmonize and upscale technologies and standards as desired by consumers and disseminate information on standards to ensure compliance;
· In collaboration with relevant Quality Control Institutions conduct inspection of products to ensure quality and safety of the product;
· In collaboration with relevant Quality Control Institutions and LGAs facilitate inspection of meat processing, meat transportation and handling at selling points;
· Prepare, implement and monitor meat quality assurance and control information system network;
· Facilitate enforcement of meat industry laws and regulations;
· Coordinate training on meat quality assurance and control to the district staffs;
· Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the head of division or supervisor.

Qualifications and Experiences
· Master’s degree in Food Science and Nutrition, Meat/Food Technology or its equivalent from any recognized Institute.
· Should have at least five years’ experience in the relevant field.
· Should be computer literate.

Tanzania Meat Board’s Salary Scales (TMSS).

Qualification:
A bachelors degree (or higher) relevant to the general and specific responsibilities mentioned above.
 
Essential skills:
Competence in the use of statistical packages and report writing.

1. Previous experience in quality assurance or research activities.

Duties and responsibility:

1. The successful candidate will be responsible to Director of Quality Assurance.
2. The candidate will join a team responsible for coordinating activities related to self-evaluation, monitoring, identifying quality outcomes and recommending improvements for continuous improvement of academic programs.
3. Organizing workshops relevant to needs of the university or academic units.
