Chemonics International Inc. is a leading international consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. with significant experience implementing USAID programs in East Africa and with decades of experience collaborating with host-country counterparts around the world to improve the availability of health services and manage complex health systems strengthening programs. Chemonics seeks experienced health professionals for the anticipated USAID-funded Tanzania CCC-KVP Program. This program seeks toimprove the cascade of HIV prevention, testing and treatment for populations affected by high HIV prevalence and limited access to and low coverage of HIV services to achieve sustained reduction in new HIV infections and gender-based violence and to improve reproductive health outcomes.
Enabling Environment Lead
CCC-KVPaims to promote HIV and gender-basedviolence prevention and family planning services for vulnerable populations and people living with HIV. The enabling environment lead will spearhead community outreach and policy efforts, capacity building and behavioral change programming and cross-sectoral connections. The role will work closely with leadership and partners to ensure that innovative, state-of-the-art approaches to increasing the use of services and fostering resilience of vulnerable populations and PLHIV within the Tanzanian context.Responsibilities
- Designs overarching programmatic strategy for social behavior change, communications, organizational development and community outreach efforts
- Participates in policy dialogue, technical working groups and stakeholder meetings to ensure that programmatic interventions are broadly disseminated and vetted
- Ensures integrated programming approach that takes into consideration gender, economic empowerment and other key factors based on the needs identified across in the community
- Builds and maintains effective partnerships to achieve the overall goals of the project
- Works collaboratively across technical disciplines and effectively manages cross-sectoral teams
- Equipsteam with comprehensive, current knowledge and skills, compatible with international norms and standards and facilitates integration of innovative approaches based on international best practices, lessons learned, research and on the ground results
- Advanced degree in public health, public policy, human rights, international development, business, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 8 years of relevant development experience; experience working in a leadership position under a USAID, PEPFAR, or other donor-funded health program preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical disciplines and manage cross-sectoral teams
- Proven ability to develop and maintain working relationships and effective partnerships with U.S. and foreign governments, development partners, private sector entities and community organizations
- Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context in Tanzania; understanding of the Tanzanian health context and structures preferred
- Ability to travel extensively to activity locations within Tanzania and to other places, as required
- Work experience in Eastern or sub-Saharan Africa; experience in Tanzania preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and in written and oral English required
