Finance and Operations Manager

Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania (AKEST), is a private, not for profit, Service Company registered under the Companies Act and operates four schools in Tanzania. AKEST vision is to provide accessible, world-class education, which prepares student to become self- confident, open –minded articulate and ethical young people with academic qualifications to enable them to make productive contributions to their own community and their wider society. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living condition and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world. Finance and Operations Manager

Position Summary:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing leadership in financial aspects of AKEST operations and ensure safeguard of AKEST resources through effective execution of financial planning and management, accounting and reporting and implementation of strong risk management and financial control policies to drive fiscal discipline within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
⦁ Prepare in collaboration with the CM and Regional  operations and Finance Director annual budget  and multiyear financial and sustainability projections in accordance with AKEST Head Office financial guidelines
⦁ Ensure AKEST finance procedures and control are implemented.
⦁ Promote financial system control over availability and integrity of financial information and maximize use of ERP capability. Co-ordinance year end statutoryaccount preparation and external audit requirements. Ensure compliance with international financial reporting standard and legal & statutory requirements, including with Registrar of Companies and local employment laws.
⦁ Monitor financial system such as fee collection, inventory, fixed assets and payroll
⦁ Supervise the preparation of monthly management and quarterly AKDN report, commentaries and variance analyses.
⦁ Initiate and enforce efficient cash management procedures by effective oversight of bank account and maximize interest income.
⦁ Promote risk based controls over bank and cash, fee collection, expenditure, fixed assets and payroll
⦁ Ensure smooth release of funds for the projects.
⦁ Act as a role model for staff modeling AKEST global value and aligning to “Education First” service paradigm
⦁ Lead, train and develop accounts team members, including coaching and mentoring

The Requirements:
Application should have the following qualifications and experience:
⦁ A university graduate with professional qualification preferably ACCA or CPA or equivalent.
⦁ Minimum of 6+years of finance experience include 3+years of post –qualifying experience at management level.
⦁ Previous proven experience in a high quality educational institution where the needs of all the stakeholders; student; parents and teachers are full understood will be a district advantage.
