Location: Arusha

Description
Our client, a leading brokerage firm in the Insurance industry in Tanzania, requires the services of a business development officer.

Duties:
Marketing of business concepts to prospective clients by personal visit, call, or email
Marketing of business management services to prospective clients
Developing the identified management business through: written and oral presentations, development and marketing of new ideas and products, handling technical inquires from clients and prospects
Identifies appropriate prospects that meets target markets through appropriate research
Establishes business strategies for turning prospects into clients
Attend meetings, seminars and programs to learn about new products and services, learn new skills, and receive technical assistance in developing new accounts.
Calculate premiums and establish payment method.
Contact underwriter and submit forms to obtain binder coverage.
Customize insurance programs to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks.
Develop marketing strategies to compete with other individuals or companies who sell insurance.
Explain features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans.
Interview prospective clients to obtain data about their financial resources and needs, the physical condition of the person or property to be insured, and to discuss any existing coverage.
Seek out new clients and develop clientele by networking to find new customers and generate lists of prospective clients.
Select company that offers type of coverage requested by client to underwrite policy.
Sell various types of insurance policies to businesses and individuals on behalf of insurance companies, including automobile, fire, life, property, medical and dental insurance or specialized policies such as marine, farm/crop, and medical malpractice.

QUALIFICATIONS
A business related degree
MUST have at least 3 years’ experience in Corporate/ Retail Sales in the insurance industry
Professional insurance qualifications from a recognized Insurance Institute.
 Have a consistent track record in achieving sales targets
Have integrity and high sense of ethical responsibility
Market intelligence and business development skills
Business strategy formulation & execution
Self – motivated, Confident and outgoing personality
Ability to multi-task and get things done to completion
A Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent networking and prospecting skills
