ABOUT THE JOB
Connexus is seeking an Agricultural Finance Specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Mboga Matunda program under the Feed the Future Initiative in Tanzania. The program will focus on increasing the productivity and profitability of horticulture value chains, while also integrating a large number of women and youth into the sector. The program will also look to extend the benefits from horticulture to improve the nutritional status of Tanzanians, including women and children.
LOCATION: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify and make contact with key informants and key stakeholders in horticulture value chains
• Identify finance and investment opportunities utilizing partnerships with key value chain actors and strategies for connecting smallholders to markets
• Develop relationships with local and international financial institutions and investors
• Work with financial institutions and value chain actors to design financial products to meet smallholder demand for financial services
• Develop, package and market a pipeline of project related investment opportunities, in coordination with project partners
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, and at least 10 years of experience in agricultural finance, economic growth/trade, value chain competitiveness or investment promotion
• Demonstrated success in implementing programs aimed at increasing access to finance and investment for agricultural value chains, especially horticulture value chains
• Demonstrated knowledge of the latest developments in advancing good/best practices in value chain development that reaches women, youth and smallholders
• Demonstrated creativity, willingness to innovate, think systemically and manage within a team environment
• Experience working on USAID-funded programs in East Africa
• Experience working with public-private partnerships
• This position requires spoken and written fluency in English and Swahili
