DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (DPDP) Job Ref: TNP/DPDP/04/13


Our client, the Trustees of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) established under the National Parks Act, Cap. 282 of the 2002, Revised Edition of the Laws of Tanzania is responsible for managing and regulating the use of areas designated as National Parks so as to preserve the country’s heritage, encompassing natural and cultural resources. Currently TANAPA manages fifteen (15) national Parks which are scattered all over the country.

TANAPA is seeking to recruit dynamic, strategic, experienced and qualified Tanzanians with strong credentials to fill the position of  Director of Planning & Development Projects

DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (DPDP) Job Ref: TNP/DPDP/04/13

Position Summary
To develop and review Corporate Strategic plan for TANAPA and ensure its implementation through sound policies and guidelines. In addition the incumbent will be challenged with establishing sustainable financial gearing activities and explore projects that will attract donor funding. Reporting to the Director General, the key responsibilities will include;

• Advising the Director General on planning processes, policy development and implementation;
• Ensuring the formulation of sound organisation planning and policies as well as related guidelines;
• Ensuring management plans and environmental impact assessment for the park are developed and reviewed accordingly;
• Developing and reviewing TANAPA Corporate Strategic Plan and monitoring its Implementation;
• Exploring and developing projects that attract donor funding and ensure their proper implementation;
• Establishing sustainable financial generating activities that protect internal markets;
• Coordinating issues related to partnerships between TANAPA and international conservation organizations;
• Coordinating monitoring and evaluation of the Projects implementation efforts;
• Ensuring the development and maintenance of national parks infrastructure; and procurement and supplies of goods and services;
• Conducting performance appraisal for the staff in Planning Directorate
• Performing any other duties related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time.

Key Qualifications and Experience:
• Master of Science Degree in Wildlife Science, or Environmental Conservation (planning ), in Natural Resources Management, Economic Planning or equivalent from a recognised institution
• Ten (10) years of working experience with a reputable organizations in related field, five (5) of which should be at senior managerial level
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop team work
• Must be proficient in MS applications
