Spedag is seeking to recruit a well motivated and suitably qualified candidate to fill the following vacant position:
POSITION: Credit Controller/Accountant
Reports To: Financial Controller
Location: Dar Es Salaam
Job Scope
- Implement and maintain an effective credit control system by:-
- Professionally managing clients outstanding balances and ensure collections as and when due
- Reconcile clients accounts and prepare clients visits for collection and correction in case of discrepancies and answers queries and enquiries from customers in coordination with Head of Finance Department
- Ensure invoice timely delivery and follow up for payments and receipts
- Monitors the progress of all pending transactions on a daily basis, updating the clients regularly and updating the oracle system
- Co-ordinate with Invoicing department and ensure all invoices are raised for respective files
- Ensures full payments are collected for respective invoices raised before release of cargo especially for first time clients and all those who do not have credit facility.
- Prepares Client’s payment schedules; Confirms monthly balances;
- Raises necessary vouchers for accounts booking in case the cashier is absent;
- Ensures that all deposits slips are received and attached to the respective receipt vouchers be it cash or Cheques;
- Follows up for direct transfers by the clients with Bank staff to ensure the right amount is received to the right account as per the client’s instructions;
- Makes daily summary reports on all collections and sends it to all concerned parties.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance, a higher qualification will be an added advantage
- At least 5 yrs experience in Accounting work
- Knowledge of the Oracle system
- Excellent knowledge of computer applications
- A certificate in customer care is an added advantage
- Should have a background in clearing and forwarding industry
- Should be faithful
- Should be mature and hardworking person
- Can fluently communicate in English and Kiswahili
- (Ability to fluently speak and write)
