Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania (AKEST), is a private, not for profit, Service Company registered under the Companies Act and operates four schools in Tanzania. AKEST vision is to provide accessible, world-class education, which prepares student to become self- confident, open –minded articulate and ethical young people with academic qualifications to enable them to make productive contributions to their own community and their wider society. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living condition and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world. Head Teacher-Nursery and Primary School.

Position Summary
The Head Teacher will have overall responsibility for all matters related to the school and will be the final sign –off at the school –level on all financial, hiring, admissions, discipline, evaluation and academic matter before submission to Head-Office.

The Head Teacher will be a visionary leader who will exercise and ethical and moral leadership to develop the school into a school of Choice in Dar es Salaam, improving the positioning of the school in the market by enhancing academic, co-curricular, sport and leadership programmes as well as developing a school culture that emphasizes ethics and values, pluralism, spirituality and excellence

Key Responsibilities
⦁ Provide executive leadership by building a high –performance, culturally diverse team, committedto aachieving the vision of the school.
⦁ School management; to manage the school and effectively by ensuring compliance in curriculum systems; staff management appraisal; compensation and professional development; students discipline and holistic education; budget and finance; parental & community relations; school operations among others
⦁ Provide policy guidance on relevant issue regarding AKEST and abide by the code of code of conduct, Standard and Quality control of AKDN and AKEST.

The requirements:
Applicants should have the following qualification and experience:
⦁ Master`s degree in Education from a reputable, accredited university;
⦁ At least ten years` experience, with demonstrable achievement of leading  a Grade 1-6 reputable international school; the experience and drive to lead an intense school improvement and change process and resilience when experiencing difficulties inherent in an emerging system.
⦁ Proven track record in the effective and efficient management of fiscal and human resources;
⦁ Experience with the IB Curriculum for Primary Years Programme and /or the Early Years;
⦁ Excellent team –building skills, with proven experience in leading, motivating and empowering teams;
⦁ Experience in Africa is desirable.
