World Vision Tanzania (WVT) is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions; which are subject to successful grant award contract sign off:
Position: Gender and Advocacy Officer ( Shinyanga)
Purpose of the position:
- To enhance World Vision Tanzania’s role in empowering communities to strengthen governance, policy and public engagement of MNCH through the Citizen Voice and Action ( CVA) Approach in ENRICH Project.
- Observe mission and core values of World Vision and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Guide project planning and development of Citizen Voice of Action (CVA) and Gender activities in ENRICH Project.
- Take lead in training CVA team and implementing partners in CVA model.
- Monitoring of progress and achievements of CVA implementation project.
- To ensure that public policies on Health and Nutrition, procedures and mechanism are discussed and understood by communities through community sensitization and dialogue meetings.
- Work with ADP staff during planning and budgeting for effective integration of CVA and Gender activities.
- Facilitate dialogue to service users/ providers and local government on strengthening health system and improving Nutrition.
Mobilization of communities, local organizations and institutions to participate in Project implementation
- Facilitate proper formation and or strengthening of CVA working teams in line with the National office working team guidelines.
- Mobilize Citizen Voice and Action working groups, local government officials and institutions to monitor social services delivery on MNCH.
- Conduct regular meetings with government on improving nutrition service delivery and evidenced based policy recommendations based on implementation research.
- Mobilize services providers and users to ensure CVA Plan of Actions developed from community dialogues are implemented.
Build local to national level partnerships, networks and coalitions with civil society organizations and local government institutions.
- Facilitate networking with government institutions and other development partners within the Project in planning and implementation of CVA and Gender activities.
- Establish context specific platforms to engage and empower men as fathers/caregivers on nutrition issue.
- Facilitate women and female youth to engage in nutrition related dialogue with government.
- Engage community leaders in regular government meetings and advocacy.
- To spearhead linkages of local to National advocacy engagements.
Monitoring and track progress of CVA project implementation.
- Organize project level forum to assess progress of Project implementation of planned Gender and Advocacy activities.
- Monitor progress of implementation of commitments made during community gatherings, and government meetings.
- Organize review, reflection and learning forum for CVA teams, community, local organizations and government.
- Document best practices, lesson learned and success stories on improved nutrition status and Maternal New Born and Child Health ( MNCH ).
- Facilitate regular Working Group meetings and periodically report to the Gender and Advocacy Specialist.
- Coordinate and facilitate all community groups responsible for gender equality and ensure social accountability processes at community level in Singida districts and Shinyanga districts.
Reporting
- Produce and share quality and timely reports to keep track of progress of planned activities within ENRICH area of operation.
- Participate in writing timely and quality monthly, quarterly bi-annual and annual reports.
Qualifications:
- Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- University degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field.
- At least three years’ experience working with communities in a development.
- Must possess experience in advocacy trends at local, national and international level
- Ability to research new national and international advocacy and sustainable development trends
- Must be highly reliable and independent.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- At least 3 years’ experience of practicing of advocacy, networking and influence.
Other Competencies/Attributes:
- Computer literate.
- Must have good Facilitation and analytical skills.
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
- Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
- Perform other duties as required.
Working Environment / Conditions:
- Work environment: Field based with frequent travel
- Travel: 50% Domestic travel is required.
- On call: 25%
