Location: Tanzania

Reports to: Administrative Officer          

Contract duration: 12 months (with possible extension) anticipated start - April 2015

Salary:  Highly competitive within Tanzanian NGO market rates               


Job purpose
Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Driver will be responsible for driving and ensuring cleanliness and safety of BBC Media Action vehicles in Tanzania by observing BBC health and safety policies.

Main Duties:
    Drive BBC Media Action vehicles in a safe courteous manner at all times
    Adhere to BBC Media Action standard procedures, rules and regulations regarding use of the vehicle
    Responsible for the proper use and security of BBC Media Action vehicles and equipment assigned
    Ensure that the vehicle is clean at all times
    Comply with working hours as instructed
    Perform daily vehicle inspections including: vehicle safety check (tyres, engine oil, water, dashboard, lights and battery component) before use each day and ensure insurance and registration are completed on time
    Responsible for proper use and safekeeping of all vehicles’ equipment: jack, spare-wheel, first aid box, fire extinguisher, triangle reflector, tools and spanners, radio and cassette compact and supported by vehicle inventory sheet inside the vehicle.
    Responsible for timely refuelling of the vehicle
    Arrange for timely vehicle service with mechanic
    File BBC Media Action log book for any approved trips
    Report all defects immediately to BBC Media Action Office Manager
    Hand over vehicle keys to BBC Media Action Administrative Officer when there are no office trips
    Travel up country with BBC Media Action staff on program for projects’ activities

Required knowledge, skills and experience:
    Secondary Education level
    Basic English language
    Computer applications an added advantage
    5 years working experience
    Ability to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle
    Tanzania Driver’s License
