Nutrition Specialist - UNICEF, Tanzania

NOC Fixed Term – TNZ11027

UNICEF, The United Nations Children’s Fund is seeking to recruit a qualified, motivated and experienced Nutrition Specialist who will be accountable for technical support to the formulation, design, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the nutrition component of the Health and Nutrition Programme, with focus on strengthened sub-national level systems for effective delivery of nutrition services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of specific project activities. Identify new strategies, and provide technical recommendations on programme directions and on the introduction of new initiatives in the country. 
  2.  Provide technical advice and assistance on nutrition to government and other partners. Assist the government to introduce new guidelines, standards, training programmes, and other initiatives to strengthen nutrition programming at subnational level.   
  3. Ensure the exchange of knowledge, information, experiences and lessons learned. Promote knowledge management by drafting sectoral documents and reports. 
  4. Interact with Government and other partners, NGOs, UN and other agencies to follow up on project implementation and monitor status of supplies and cash disbursements. Conduct field visits to monitor implementation and participate in programme reviews with Government counterparts and other partners.
  5. Certify the disbursement and utilization of funds, and follow up on the timely implementation of activities and liquidation of funds by government and other partners. Determine supply and cash needs to ensure programme delivery meets targets. Coordinate with operations staff on supply and non-supply assistance. 
  6. Support the development of the nutrition annual work plan, and prepare proposals and reports a per agreed office schedules. Coordinate with other project officers, units and sections to ensure the integration of the project with other sectors.
  7. Promote the organization goals of UNICEF through advocacy dialogue, communication, networking and participation at every opportunity inside and outside UNICEF, leveraging the strength of UNICEF mission, goals and programmes.

    EDUCATION: Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health or other relevant discipline(s).

    WORK EXPERIENCE: Five years of relevant professional work experience. Field work experience. Background/familiarity with Emergency

    LANGUAGE: Fluency in English and Kiswahili
